Story Coaching

Creative Services

Establishing a brand identity? Working on a podcast? A documentary? A book? A speech?

As the creative director for Mortified, I built a brand that scaled across multiple media categories.

I can help you develop, edit, produce, or write upcoming projects. I love working with people who have big dreams but struggle to see the forest for the trees with their ideas. My goal is to offer you the creative support and confidence boost to help you reach your finish line.

Workshops

I offer 90-minute storytelling workshops on the foundations of story in an effort to demystify the process for those who don't consider themselves writers. Whether you're a teacher, a doctor, a data analyst, or a salesperson, if you communicate for a living, this workshop is aimed at you. For organizations, it also doubles as a fun team bonding exercise. Past clients have included Pandora, Deloitte, Eventbrite, the NYC Center for Data Intelligence, The Cooper Union, Cartoon Network, and PRX.

Praise

"Dave and I worked together extensively to craft my book. The exercises he used to help me narrow my focus and create a clear narrative were invaluable. Dave’s many years of experience working with Mortified performers have made him an expert in finding the core, interesting, and humorous parts of our personal stories." - Jen, Doctor

"An amazing experience for our team. The team gained a new perspective on how to use storytelling to better engage our audience, and had a great time doing it. Mortified’s founder, Dave, was an engaging, enthusiastic facilitator who had everyone in the room spellbound. And laughing!” –Maddie, Content Manager, Eventbrite

"Really made me realize the importance of human motivation in stories. I love looking at stories that way because it helps to think of how the world could be if everyone were as obsessed with stories as I am. It’s a great way to bring coworkers closer together, and helps frame the failures of our past in a way we can use for the future.” — Liz, Development Department, Cartoon Network Studios

“We brought David in to help my sales team think outside the box when it comes to storytelling. It was a fun workshop that got us to think much differently about storytelling and its role in sales than we had been prior.”— Tamara, Vice President, CPG & Retail, Pandora

“The workshop helped me to realize that awkward moments can make the most interesting stories, and those stories are the ones that usually connect people the most. The connection is the very thing that makes any story awesome, so therefore awkward moments are indeed awesome!” — Audra, Recording Studio Coordinator, Cartoon Network Studios
