Who I Am

I’m a word nerd and a story detective. People hire me to find hidden narratives and craft compelling copy.

As a writer, producer, creative director and story coach, my work has appeared at the Sundance Film Festival, appeared multiple times on This American Life, and hailed "a cultural phenomenon" by Newsweek.

As the founder and creative director of Mortified–– an international storytelling project that helps people transform childhood memories into comedic monologues–– I grew a grassroots stage show into a global media brand that has reached millions through acclaimed podcasts, TV projects, radio appearances, books, games and live events performed in 6 languages.

I have experience in multiple genres-- talk shows, live events, documentary, and an educational kids show spanning print, audio, TV, and stage. I've worked on stories about a variety of topics-- the faith based music industry, true crime, celebrity obsessions, people who write diaries in secret languages, the Little Rock Nine, celebrity profiles, survivors of famous tragedies, obscure music acts, and branding experts.

Somewhere along the way, I even hosted a TV show where I interviewed celebrities about their most awkward memories.

In my spare time, I am a terrible but enthusiastic piano player.

As a writer-producer:

I develop and craft treatments, proposals, press releases, podcast scripts, ad copy and brand identity.

As a story coach:

I help people harness the power of story through one-on-one sessions and workshops.

As a facilitator:

With “narrative breathwork,” I help people release stress and illuminate the throughlines that guide their lives.
